1. Color Options
Color palettes can be one of the trickiest things to pick out for a photo session but it doesn’t have to be. For a fall photo session, try to pick colors that will complement the surroundings. Fall is full of fun colors; red, orange, yellow and green. Pick your favorite to harmonize with your surroundings without you getting lost in the foliage.
2. Add Fun Patterns
When adding patterns in a group session, pick one or two people to wear them. This will help to avoid a matchy-matchy look and create some interest in the photos. While patterns are fun, it is important that only 1-2 people in your session wear them, you don’t want competing patterns.
3. Add Layers
As we get into these cooler months, it may be time to add some layers to your outfits. Scarves, vests, sweaters, jackets are all good options to add some dimension and much needed warmth to your fall photo session.
4. Wear what makes YOU feel comfortable
Most importantly, wear clothes that make you and your family feel good. When you are wearing something that is comfy, cozy and is something you love, it is an automatic confidence boost and will make your session even more fun!
5. Things to Avoid
When it comes to your family session, there are a couple things you may want to avoid so you aren’t looking back saying “Why did I wear that?!”. Try to avoid neon colors especially in the fall as they will detract from the fall foliage. Avoid logos or graphics as it can take away from the overall picture.
Also, try to leave those bad moods and stressed out feelings at home and instead, project the idea that this will be a fun and fast experience. Your attitude will be infectious to the rest of the group and surly will help create a fantastic family photosession!
